School for Social Entrepreneurs India is strengthening, building capacity and driving inspiration in 20 Balika Panchayats across 20 Gram Panchayats in Dahod, Gujarat. Interacted with Balika Panchayats in Gram Panchayat Bhilva, Rayan Falia and Vajelav.

We are working with 1000 adolescents to manifest our vision ‘Champions of today, Leaders of tomorrow’. It would be so important to understand, children have aspirations irrespective of their context, background and location – they have an innate capacity to realize their dreams; what they need is an enabling environment, and that is the least we can do.

It is their journey, but question is ‘Do we want to be part of their journey?

SSE’s inspirational journey is aligned with Usha Silai School’s vision of deploying sewing as a platform for social and economic empowerment of women in the under-served communities while earning from the comfort of their own homes. This not only transforms their lives but also that of their families.

Baroness Glenys Thornton said, “SSE believes in equipping the next generation of social entrepreneurs to effect large scale social and environmental change, which is why I am delighted to accept the offer to deliver Michael Young Lecture. Our intent is to mobilize people and support their entrepreneurial approaches to create lasting change. It is an immense pleasure to see the impact of Usha International’s Silai School programme for myself as I met with some women whose lives have been transformed by it. It’s an inspiring example of the large scale impact corporates can have with the right intent and execution.

USHA Silai School is a self employment model where Silai Schools are household level self-sustaining micro-enterprises. Women earn by imparting sewing skills, taking work orders for stitching garments and provide mechanical servicing of sewing machines. USHA in partnership with local NGOs, sets up Silai Schools in some of the country’s most remote and rural corners. The NGO partners facilitate and support USHA to identify and motivate rural women to get skilled in sewing and stitching and create ripple effect of skill development forming a network of self-reliant and enterprising women.

SSE India proudly hosted the sixth edition of Forum i2i - 'Invest to Impact'!

A powerful panel of influencers and leaders from the North-East and West Bengal development ecosystem graced our event as esteemed panelists.

We are thrilled to announce the grand success of the Graduation Ceremony for the Social Start-up Fellowship Programme 2023 at IIT Guwahati.

At SSE India, we believe in learning from real-world stories. Our current cohort had the privilege of witnessing a remarkable entrepreneurial journey shared by our SSE India 2018 fellow. His idea for “@Eloo,” born from a memorable highway trip with his wife, has now become a symbol of comfort and safety for women travellers along the highways. Despite facing obstacles, his perseverance and hard work led to the realization of his dream, proving that determination can turn visions into reality.

SOCIAL START-UP FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

Start-up support for people looking to get a new idea off the ground, develop and sustain with study sessions, action learning, mentoring. 100+ fellows have graduated from this programme.

BUILDING INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY

Supporting organisations in developing a strong and robust social impact strategy within their existing structure; working with their employees/intrapreneurs to take greater ownership and connect with the organisation’s vision

FOSTERING LOCAL GRASSROOT ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Workshops to strengthen local SHG groups registered under multiple state specific schemes of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY – NRLM) . Rajasthan based Local Entrepreneurs Programme (women)

THE INCLUSIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME

A pre-incubation 3-month programme for promoting LGBTI livelihoods and mitigating gender based violence & discrimination. Focuses on building entrepreneurial skills for the budding entrepreneurs via learning by doing methodology of SSE India. The elements of the programme include practical learning, mentoring and action learning – which together enable them to examine their idea, develop a business model, integrate their personal values, and refine social impact.

LOCALISING SDGS, TAKING ACTIONS TO IMPACT

Work with Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) to mainstream SDGs through the planning process at the local level. Equipping PRIs to align with SDGs and be effective vehicles of social change and rural development is the vision of this intervention. An action learning approach to build capacities of PRIs for inclusive planning and achieve the vision of ‘Leave No One Behind’ is at the core of this intervention.

LIGHTHOUSE PROJECTS

Harnessing Entrepreneurship & Skills potential and aligning it with youth & women power, socially excluded groups, private sector and SHGs. Explore entrepreneurial opportunities for better service delivery and job creation. Active participation of the Gram Panchayats, Block Panchayats, Zila Panchayats and mobilizing their leadership & ownership would enable creating transformative outcomes. Create lighthouse projects that can guide ‘how development should happen’.

ACCESS TO THE GLOBAL NETWORK OF CHANGEMAKERS

SSE Global community offers a gateway to the most innovative social enterprises across the globe. Country chapters under SSE Global – UK, India, Canada, Scotland, etc Gives a platform to explore avenues of learning, opportunities and collaboration.
